Job TitleExtruder Operator
Job TypeFull-Time 2 nd Shift 2:00pm to 10:30pm
Key Responsibilities- Complete set-up and change over of extruding equipment and dies to complete jobs.
- Complete start-up of extrusion equipment at the start of each shift.
- Complete shut-down, including cleaning all material out of the barrel, at the end of each shift.
- Set-up, monitor and adjust water trays to cool material
- Set-up, monitor and adjust equipment speed and temperature in response to start new runs and correct in-process quality concerns
- Review work orders, prioritize jobs and schedule extrusion equipment accordingly.
- Complete visual quality inspections on work-in-progress and finished product
- Measure and ensure dimensions of work-in-progress and finished product
- Package and label completed work-in-progress and finished product
- Load material and operate material dryers
- Perform preventive maintenance and general repairs to extruding equipment
- Complete material handling of all materials to and from extrusion work area
- Record completion of production and quality checks on production logs
- Read and follow written and visual work instructions
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Use and read calipers, micrometers and tape measures
- Use common hand tools (wrenches, exacto knife, hammer)
- Understanding of wire and ability to confirm wire type by counting strands and measuring diameter
- Operate a blow torch
- Ability to lift 50 to 55 pounds (frequently)
- Ability to visually identify fine details for completion of quality checks
- Ability to lift 75 pounds (infrequently)
- Works with raw material and tooling equipment that is heated to high temperatures
