The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for all engineering activities on the plant floor.
This position designs, develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and systems focused on exceeding quality and production requirements within the manufacturing organization.
Recommends and implements continuous improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products integrating specialized processes into a lean manufacturing environment.
- Designs and develops manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment which optimize value added operations, operating costs, and product / process quality.
- Serves as a change agent to challenge existing processes in place.
Uses data to communicate and support the opportunities that exist. - Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including cost analysis for quoting purposes.
- Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
- Provides technical expertise and leadership for the timely resolution of manufacturing process and product design problems. Serve as a resource for cause / effect analyses, investigations, statistical studies, and corrective action planning.
- Assist in successful launch of key CAPEX projects to improve efficiencies.
- Work with integrators to bring automation to factory where applicable.
- Create/Modify part numbers, formulas, and prints for new products/customers.
This includes working with other Rope and Assembly locations to coordinate engineering efforts. - Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial)
- 5-10 years of relevant experience preferred
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Train employees over new production procedures
- Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in CAD design system
- Quality orientation and attention to detail
