QA/QC Manager – Ground-Up Data Center Construction (South Chicago)

We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Manager to support and enforce quality standards on large-scale,
ground‑up data center construction projects in the South Chicago region
. This role requires deep expertise in MEP systems, mission‑critical infrastructure, and high‑performance construction standards
, with the ability to ensure all work meets design specifications, industry codes, and operational requirements.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in North America; visa sponsorship is not available.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Management for Ground‑Up Construction
  • Develop, manage, and enforce the project’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control plan across all phases of ground‑up construction.
  • Verify the quality of site development, civil work, foundations, structural steel, envelope systems, and architectural finishes
    .
  • Conduct ongoing inspections to ensure work aligns with drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
MEP & Mission‑Critical System Quality Oversight
  • Oversee QA/QC for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations, with a focus on mission‑critical reliability and redundancy.
  • Inspect high‑voltage electrical distribution, generators, UPS systems, cooling systems, CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water loops, BMS integration, and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure proper installation practices, torquing, testing, labelling, grounding, and equipment startup procedures.
  • Verify that all MEP systems meet commissioning requirements and are fully ready for integrated testing (IT, IST).
Documentation, Testing & Compliance
  • Maintain detailed QA/QC documentation including test reports, inspection logs, deficiency lists, and corrective action records.
  • Review and validate submittals, shop drawings, method statements, and installation procedures for completeness and compliance.
  • Support commissioning teams by ensuring systems are installed per design and ready for functional performance testing.
  • Ensure adherence to building codes, standards, manufacturer requirements, and project specifications.
GC & Subcontractor Quality Coordination
  • Work closely with General Contractors and key subcontractors to enforce quality standards and resolve deficiencies quickly.
  • Lead quality‑focused walkthroughs and coordinate rework when deviations are identified.
  • Coach trades and GC teams on quality expectations, best practices, and corrective actions.
Risk, Safety & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify systemic quality risks and recommend proactive solutions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Support the safety team with quality‑related safety compliance, especially on complex MEP installations.
  • Promote a culture of quality and accountability across all site operations.
Client & Stakeholder Interaction
  • Provide clear, detailed quality reports, punch‑list updates, and readiness assessments to internal stakeholders and client teams.
  • Participate in OAC meetings, commissioning meetings, and schedule reviews from a quality standpoint.
Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of QA/QC experience in large‑scale ground‑up data center, mission‑critical, or high‑tech industrial construction
    .
  • Strong technical expertise in MEP systems
    , including electrical distribution, mechanical cooling, and associated infrastructure.
  • Proven experience working with General Contractors and specialty trades on complex builds.
  • Deep understanding of construction standards, testing procedures, commissioning requirements, and documentation processes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to drive quality across diverse teams.
  • Hands‑on field presence with the ability to manage multiple inspections daily.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in hyperscale or multi‑phase data center programs.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, commissioning processes, and third‑party inspection workflows.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, or other construction QA/QC platforms.
