About Indiana State Prison:

Indiana State Prison is a level‑four maximum‑security facilitylocatedin Michigan City, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 2,400 incarcerated adult males. As the oldest correctional facility in the state, it has a long history andoperateson a secured 24‑acre campus with tenmannedtowers. Role Overview:

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll join a full‑service maintenance team at the Indiana State Prison, supporting daily repair and preventive maintenance in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds. This Monday-Friday role offers steady hours, strong safety practices, and hands‑on experience. We provide training for motivated individuals starting their maintenance career, with a clear path for advancement into supervisory and leadership roles (Maintenance Technician

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
  • Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
  • Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities
  • Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
  • Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.
