This role is mission‑critical to ensuring our books are clean, our reporting is accurate, and our external accounting partners receive complete and timely data for tax filings and financial oversight.
Position SummaryThe Accounting Manager / Controller is responsible for all internal accounting functions, ensuring absolute adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), maintaining accurate financial records, and preparing timely internal reports.
This role serves as the primary liaison to our outside accounting firm, providing clean, organized, audit‑ready information to support corporate taxes, annual financial reviews, and long‑term financial planning. The ideal candidate is disciplined, detail‑focused, and committed to building strong, consistent financial processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & GAAP Compliance
- Maintain accurate general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Ensure all accounting practices meet GAAP standards with zero exceptions.
- Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes with precision and predictability.
- Monitor financial health indicators including cash flow, AP/AR, job costing, and inventory accuracy.
- Prepare internal financial statements for VPO and executive leadership.
Coordination With External Accounting Firm
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all tax and audit‑related activities.
- Provide timely, complete, and organized financial data for:
- Corporate tax preparation
- Annual or quarterly reviews
- Financial audits
- Compliance reporting
- Collaborate on improvements in financial structure, reporting, and forecasting.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Implement strong internal controls, approvals, and audit trails.
- Establish predictable accounting calendars, reporting standards, and documentation requirements.
- Identify inefficiencies and strengthen processes for accuracy and transparency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts, and financial obligations.
Operational & Manufacturing Support
- Oversee job cost tracking, project financials, WIP reporting, and production‑related costing.
- Work with Operations, Purchasing, and Project Management to ensure accurate coding, cost capture, and inventory valuation.
- Provide financial insights supporting operational planning, budgeting, and strategic decision‑making.
Team Leadership & Accountability
- Oversee daily work of accounting staff (if applicable).
- Train employees on proper financial procedures and documentation standards.
- Maintain a culture of accuracy, timeliness, and integrity.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years professional accounting experience in manufacturing, industrial construction, or similar environment.
- Expert‑level GAAP knowledge and application.
- Proven experience managing month‑end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to interface professionally with external auditors/accountants.
- Strong skills in job costing, inventory, work‑in‑progress accounting, and project financials.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems
- High integrity, strong organizational habits, and consistent follow‑through.
Preferred
- CPA or CMA certification.
- Experience in corporate or industrial accounting environments.
- Background implementing strong accounting processes, improving workflows, or enhancing financial reporting systems.
