AboutThe Role
We are a boutique accounting firm serving small business clients across a variety of industries. We are seeking an experienced Accountant with strong Quick Books expertise to join our Client Services team. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented, self‑motivated professional who thrives in a remote environment while maintaining exceptional client service standards.
The Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining clean and reconciled books, responding to tax notices, improving internal efficiencies, and supporting clients with timely, professional communication.
Key Responsibilities- Perform monthly and periodic account reconciliations for multiple small business clients
- Conduct data clean-up and troubleshooting in Excel and Quick Books (Online and/or Desktop)
- Analyze financial records to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy
- Prepare client‑specific reporting in Excel, including customized financial analyses and deliverables
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements to client workflows and deliverables to enhance budget adherence and firm profitability
- Monitor engagement progress to ensure work is completed within scope and budget
- Respond to and assist clients with IRS and State Treasury notices
- Provide ad hoc client support as needed
- Collaborate with internal team members and clients using cloud‑based systems
- Ensure timely completion and delivery of each client’s defined scope of work
- Maintain organized documentation and uphold firm standards for quality and consistency
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
- Advanced proficiency in Quick Books
- Strong Excel skills (data cleanup, reconciliations, custom reporting, analysis)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and deadline‑driven
- Self‑motivated with the ability to stay productive in a fully remote environment
- Prior Controller‑level experience
- Experience in a client‑service or public accounting environment
- Experience handling IRS and state tax notices
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and drive operational efficiency
- Office space is available if preferred.
- In‑person attendance is required approximately 3–6 times per year for team collaboration and IT upgrades (scheduled well in advance).
- There may be a requirement to work in‑office for a few weeks during initial onboarding.
