Job

Position Summary

Working under the supervision of the Director Mission Support (or Pastor), the bookkeeper is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of the financial records (general ledger), including accounts payable and reconciliations. This part‑time position (maximum 10 hours per week) is not eligible for benefits. Wage: $17 to $21 per hour. Base office:
St. Mary Mystical Rose, Armada, Michigan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accounts payable: process invoices, expense coding, and data entry.
  • Accounts receivable: oversee volunteer weekend collection counters, coordinate bank deposits, and track and follow up on all accounts receivable.
  • Bi‑weekly payroll input to payroll system.
  • Monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Cash disbursements and assistance with cash management.
  • Gather vouchers and assist with 1099 preparation and annual audit schedules.
  • Prepare reports for audit and finance council meetings.
  • Assist in developing financial controls and budgeting.
  • Manage year‑end tax records and special reports for board/archdiocese.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Accounting degree or equivalent with sufficient related experience, preferably nonprofit.
  • Knowledge of standard accounting practices.
  • Working knowledge of Sage Intacct, Google Drive/Docs/Sheets, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Excellent organizational and follow‑through skills; ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidentiality and professionalism in dealing with clergy, staff, benefactors, and vendors.
  • Team orientation and effective interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Manual dexterity to operate phones, computers, and office equipment. Ability to kneel, bend, and lift light items. Clear verbal and written English. Vision: near, distance, depth perception. Work primarily office based with occasional travel.

Hours and Compensation

10 hours weekly maximum. Category:
Part‑time, Non‑Exempt. Wage: $17 to $21 per hour.
