Accounts Payable Clerk

Position Overview

AJM Packaging Corporation, one of America’s leading manufacturers of paper products, including paper plates, cups, bowls and bags, is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team at our Corporate Office in Bloomfield Hills, MI. This position will be responsible for reviewing and processing all invoices to provide timely and accurate payments.

• Process vendor invoices daily by matching them with corresponding purchase orders and receipts, and enter data into the system.
• Assist with check printing as needed.
• Scan all paid invoices into the online database.
• Research invoice discrepancies by reviewing paperwork and files, communicate with the vendor and/or Purchasing Department, and consult with the Accounts Payable Supervisor if necessary; also review monthly statements, conduct research, and coordinate with vendors to resolve discrepancies.
• Process reports of defective goods and ensure all deductions are applied to the corresponding invoices; prepare invoice deduction notices and send them to the appropriate vendor as needed.
• Process petty cash for plants monthly.
• Review and process all reimbursement requests and expense reports, checking required documentation before processing for payment.
• Prepare and print accounts payable reports as required.

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent, preferably in accounting, from a two‑year college or technical school; at least two years of high‑volume accounts payable experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of personal computers and Windows‑based software.
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to function in a high‑volume environment.
• Advanced data entry skills.
