A great UHY client is seeking a Property Accountant
. The ideal candidate will have property accounting experience, experience with App Folio or similar property management software, and strong general accounting skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
The Property Accountant role is an onsite position. This is a direct hire position.
Property Accountant Responsibilities- Assist with day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Support the Controller with the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and year‑end financial reporting.
- Assist with property‑level accounting for commercial and residential real‑estate portfolios.
- Monitor lease agreements and ensure proper revenue recognition.
- Assist with annual budget preparation and monitor actual performance against budget.
- Process payroll and help ensure accurate and timely employee payments.
- Manage insurance claims, including documentation, communication with insurance carriers, and claim follow‑up.
- Oversee utility accounts and billing for multiple properties while monitoring usage and ensuring timely processing.
- Maintain organized records for contracts, vendor files, billing documentation, and property‑related operational data.
- Coordinate communication between property management staff, external CPA firms, insurance providers, utility companies, and other third‑party vendors.
- Assist with HR compliance activities and support employee benefits administration.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to HR and administrative matters.
- Support additional accounting, reporting, and administrative projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management.
- Experience with App Folio or similar property management software is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles, financial reporting, and property accounting.
- Experience supporting commercial and residential property portfolios.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Comfortable working independently in a small team environment.
- High level of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential financial and employee information.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience supporting payroll, budgeting, insurance administration, and vendor coordination is a plus.
