Senior Accountant

A great UHY client is seeking a Sr. Accountant
. The ideal candidate will have real estate/property management accounting experience, App Folio experience, and property accounting expertise.

The Sr. Accountant role is a onsite position. This is a direct hire position.

• Assist in leading day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reports.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Manage cash flow, forecast cash needs, and reconcile bank activity across multiple entities.
• Coordinate the annual budget process and monitor actual performance against budget.
• Prepare Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations for commercial tenants.
• Perform property-level accounting for both commercial and residential real estate portfolios.
• Monitor lease agreements and ensure proper revenue recognition.
• Liaise with insurance providers, vendors, and other external business partners.
• Supervise or provide support to bookkeeping and administrative staff as needed.
• Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting tools to enhance operational efficiency.
• Assist with special accounting projects and support leadership with ad hoc financial analysis.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management.
• Strong property accounting experience, including commercial and residential portfolios.
• Experience with App Folio or similar property management software is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience managing multiple entities and complex accounting transactions.
• Knowledge of CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
• Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, small-team environment.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems preferred.
