Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. The Accounting Manager will oversee daily accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support strategic decision-making. This role requires strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to drive process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and training to enhance team performance.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities.
Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Work closely with senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations for business growth.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the accounting function.
Utilize accounting software and ERP systems to streamline reporting and financial analysis.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
