CFS has partnered with a local Grand Rapids company that's looking to hire a Payroll Clerk. This role will be a key position within the office and work with many departments. The Payroll Clerk administers weekly payroll within established policies and in accordance with state and federal wage and hour laws. Our client is looking for a detail orientated professional with strong communication skills and a positive "can do" attitude.

Payroll Clerk Responsibilities:
  • Weekly disbursement of company payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws.
  • Review accuracy of weekly time. Verify reported overtime and other standard pay variances with employee supervisors when in question.
  • Update and process weekly garnishments (child support, IRS, etc.).
  • Update and process insurance benefits and voluntary deductions (HSA, 401(k), etc.).
  • Forward weekly tax with holdings and payroll deduction monies to appropriate authorities in compliance with prescribed timelines.
  • Ensure payroll system is continuously accurate in reflecting current employee pay profiles, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time
  • Communicate actively to review cross- departmental impacts and reconcile data and task sharing.
  • Provide backup coverage to departments as related to payroll functions
  • Participate in process improvement implementation.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
Payroll Clerk Education &

Skills:
  • Associates or Bachelors degree
  • Minimum 2 years’ payroll experience
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws as well as wage and hour provisions
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently meet payroll scheduling requirements
