Academic Advising Assistant (Fall 2026)

Position Summary:

The Academic Advising Assistant will provide basic administrative duties for the Academic Advising and Resource Center, assisting students and their guests seeking degree, career, disability services, mental health counseling, and registration information.

$13.73 per hour

• Greet students and guests, provide information about the Academic Advising and Resource Center.
• Assist students with registration and use Banner to determine testing and scheduling requirements.
• Perform additional clerical tasks such as shredding, filing, scanning/photocopying, assembling advising materials, and data input.
• Provide office coverage during staff meetings and trainings.
• Participate in AARC events, including registration at transfer fairs, career fairs, and commencement.
• Perform additional duties assigned by a supervisor.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic clerical skills, computer literacy, excellent customer service, effective communication, and understanding of advising and career planning processes.
• Completion of extensive in‑office training on advising procedures, office operations, and customer service.

• Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Banner.

• Talking: express and exchange ideas verbally.
• Hearing: perceive normal speaking levels and understand oral communication.
• Repetitive motion: substantial wrist, hand, and finger movements.
• Light work: lift up to 20 lbs occasionally, up to 10 lbs frequently, or negligible force constantly.
