Body Shop Technician Trainee
The Body Shop Technician Trainee is an entry-level position designed for individuals interested in developing a career in automotive collision repair. Working alongside experienced Body Shop Technicians, the trainee will gain hands-on experience in vehicle repair processes, shop procedures, tools, equipment, and industry standards. This position provides an opportunity to build technical skills through on-the-job training while supporting the day-to-day operations of the Body Shop.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Works alongside an assigned Body Shop Technician to learn proper collision repair techniques, procedures, and industry standards.
- Assists with vehicle disassembly, reassembly, repair preparation, and other body repair tasks under the direction of an experienced technician.
- Learns the proper and safe use of body shop tools, equipment, and materials.
- Moves customer vehicles into and out of work areas as directed.
- Retrieves parts, materials, and supplies needed for repairs.
- Assists with maintaining an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
- Replenishes shop supplies and materials as needed.
- Follows all company safety procedures and manufacturer repair guidelines.
- Participates in required technical training, certification programs, and departmental meetings.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn, accept coaching, and continually develop technical skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- No previous collision repair experience required; automotive or mechanical experience is a plus.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in automotive collision repair.
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills through hands-on instruction and formal training.
- Dependable, motivated, and able to follow instructions and established procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles, tools, and equipment after appropriate training.
