Summary:

The Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for developing, managing, and overseeing digital content initiatives that advance Glen Oaks Community College's strategic priorities, with a focus on managing and optimizing the college website and social media as key engagement and conversion platforms. Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing, this position provides leadership and strategic direction for assigned communications and marketing functions, including content creation across platforms, digital engagement initiatives, and collaborative projects with campus departments.

This position requires a regular on-campus presence, including flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of events and coverage needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Lead strategy, development, and maintenance of web content, ensuring accuracy, clarity, SEO best practices, and ADA compliance.

* Plan, write, and edit website copy for academic programs, student services, events, and campaigns.

* Create and optimize landing pages that support recruitment, engagement, and marketing campaigns.

* Serve as a website CMS power user and trainer, providing guidance to departments and enforcing brand and accessibility standards.

* Audit the website regularly for outdated content, broken links, and structural improvements.

* Develop compelling multimedia content (graphics, photos, videos, and written stories) for digital platforms, including the website, email, social media, and blogs.

* Plan and execute social media strategy and content calendar across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, You Tube, etc.), optimizing for engagement, storytelling, and institutional goals.

* Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Admissions, Foundation, Academics, Student Services) to gather, develop, and publish digital content.

* Leverage AI tools to enhance content development, editing, and efficiency.

* Create compelling photo and video content that showcases student experiences, campus events, and institutional initiatives; edit and deliver content in a timely manner to support strategic storytelling and audience engagement.

* Monitor digital trends, user behavior, and analytics; report on performance and suggest content improvements.

* Uphold the college's brand, tone, and voice in all content across platforms.

* Assist in the promotion of on-campus events and initiatives, including evening/weekend coverage as needed.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field.

* Two (2) years of experience in digital content creation and social media management, including engagement strategies and analytics.

* Experience in website CMS, SEO management, and user experience best practices.

* Demonstrated experience with content planning, copywriting, and publishing.

* Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools.

* Strong photography and videography skills, including editing software.

* Excellent writing, grammar, and visual storytelling skills.

* Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Paste Text

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working in higher education or a mission-driven organization.

* Experience with Modern Campus CMS.

* Proficiency with AI-based tools such as ChatGPT, custom GPTs, AI image and video editors, and workflow automations.
