Collaborative Pianist
Provides high-quality piano accompaniment for vocal music programs, rehearsals, performances, festivals, and special events, as well as assisting with administrative tasks pertaining to the Vocal Music Department. The Collaborative Pianist works with music educators to support student learning, musical growth, and successful performances while fostering a positive and encouraging environment for students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide piano accompaniment for choir, soloists, small ensembles, and other music groups during rehearsals and performances.
- Collaborate with the music teacher(s) to prepare students for concerts, adjudicated events, festivals, and community performances.
- Attend scheduled rehearsals, concerts, performances, and other assigned music events.
- Learn and prepare assigned musical selections prior to rehearsals.
- Follow the conductor's interpretation regarding tempo, dynamics, articulation, phrasing, and style.
- Assist with sight-reading and music theory support.
- Accompany student auditions, honor choir auditions, solo and ensemble festivals, and other school-related music activities.
- Support classroom rehearsals and sectional rehearsals including but not limited to; general classroom management, student support and small group instruction.
- Assist with administrative tasks including but not limited to; uniform management, fundraising support, bookkeeping, field trip assistance, organization and filing.
- Maintain professionalism, flexibility, and positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and district information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Vocal Music Staff.

- High school diploma or GED required, degree in Music or equivalent experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in piano performance and accompaniment.
- Ability to read music fluently and accompany vocal and instrumental ensembles.
- Strong sight-reading skills.
- Previous experience accompanying school, church, community, and/or collegiate music programs preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with directors, students, and staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adjust quickly to changes in rehearsal schedules and performance needs.
- Basic knowledge of Google Suite, Keyboarding, and Bookkeeping
- Thorough knowledge of piano accompaniment techniques.
- Understanding of vocal and instrumental repertoire appropriate for secondary level ensembles.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to establish positive rapport with students while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Commitment to supporting student achievement through music education.
- Ability to sit and perform at a piano for extended periods.
- Ability to attend evening performances and occasional weekend events.
- Ability to lift and move music materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
The work is performed primarily in classrooms, rehearsal spaces, auditoriums, and performance venues. The position requires attendance at evening concerts, performances, and occasional weekend events. School-based; may work in classrooms, intervention spaces, or learning labs.
