The Classical Announcer serves as an on-air host, storyteller, and digital content producer for our public radio classical music service. This role combines engaging live and recorded presentation with the creation of compelling multimedia content that connects audiences to classical music, arts, culture, and community events. The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic communicator who can present classical music with warmth, accuracy, and accessibility across broadcast, digital, and social media platforms.
Qualificationssummary

- Strong research, writing, and storytelling abilities.
- Experience with digital content management and social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Host live and prerecorded classical music programming.
- Introduce music selections with engaging, informative, and concise commentary.
- Provide accurate information about composers, artists, recordings, and performances.
- Deliver station identification, underwriting acknowledgments, promotional announcements, and public service messages in accordance with FCC and station guidelines.
- Maintain a consistent, professional on-air sound aligned with the station's mission and brand.
- Monitor broadcast operations and respond appropriately to scheduling, technical, or programming changes.
- Research,, and produce original classical music and arts-related content for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Develop content for the station website, newsletters, podcasts, and streaming platforms.
- Produce audio segments, promotional spots, and special programming content.
- Collaborate with programming, marketing, and development teams to support station initiatives and audience growth.

The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic communicator who can present classical music with warmth, accuracy, and accessibility across broadcast, digital, and social media platforms.
Qualifications- Experience in radio broadcasting, podcasting, audio production, or media hosting.
- Strong knowledge of classical music history, repertoire, composers, and performers
- Experience in public media or nonprofit arts organizations.
- Audio editing and production experience using tools such as Adobe Audition, Audacity, or similar software.
- Experience with content management systems, podcast production, and digital analytics.
- Knowledge of music scheduling and broadcast automation systems.
- Familiarity with public radio fundraising and audience engagement practices.
- Weekly Meeting with staff
- Attend Station events -- duties as assigned
- Much of the work is solo/unsupervised, but expect to interact with station team membnerts an a regular basis.
- Interaction with the public directly is only a part of Specific Everts
Minimal physical labor, but may include
- minor lifting boxes, moving furniture and equipmenmt
- light cleaning/trash removal etc.
