ScheduleMonday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m., with evening hours as necessary.
- Assists dental providers to deliver high-quality, preventive and restorative patient-centered oral health care.
- Provides efficient and effective patient care according to adopted clinical standards.
- Prepares the dental operatory for treatment and cleans it after use following CDC infection control guidelines.
- Seats the patient, verifies identity, records vitals, and obtains consent when required.
- Follows EHR/EDR workflow documentation as directed.
- Maintains operatory inventory to minimize disruptions to workflow.
- Assists dentists and hygienists to optimize provider productivity.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments per policies and procedures.
- Verifies extracted teeth with the patient and documents the tooth.
- Provides clear instructions for procedures and post-op care using diverse learning techniques.
- Schedules return appointments.
- Meets all accepted dental treatment standards and provides quality patient-centered care.
- Participates constructively as a clinical team member and meets staff satisfaction expectations.
- Communicates openly with staff and site managers.
- Honors a thorough understanding of dental theory and practices, typically acquired through a dental-assistant curriculum or one year of on-the-job training.
- Maintains necessary certification requirements.
- Proficient in using current Electronic Health Records.
- Skilled in responding to e-mail.
- Exhibits professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates excellent cross-cultural communication skills at all levels.
- Minimum of one year as a dental assistant in a clinical setting.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations is advantageous.
- Familiarity with dental software and electronic health records is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited dental assistant training program preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, frequently sit, and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, reach with arms and hands, and finger dexterity to grasp and manipulate equipment.
- Requires visual acuity to use keyboard, operate office equipment, and read printed material; must be able to talk and hear regularly.
