Position Overview
Provide dental prophylaxis including calculus removal and related oral hygiene to prisoners at the assigned Correctional Facility and other dental clinics as assigned. Assist in the operation of the dental clinic, including chair‑side assisting of dentists. This position has direct contact with and responsibility over prisoners for more than 50% of work time. The position is located 100% within the secure perimeter of a Correctional Facility.
Responsibilities- Provide dental prophylaxis, including calculus removal and related oral hygiene to prisoners.
- Assist in the operation of the dental clinic, including chair‑side assisting of dentists.
- Associate's degree in dental hygiene.
- Two years of experience as a dental hygienist.
- Licensure as a registered dental hygienist by the Michigan Board of Dentistry.
New hires will complete Non‑Custody New Employee Training (NCNET), consisting of 40 or 80 hours of initial in‑person training based on offender contact level and job classification. All new employees will also complete additional online training.

Applicants convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
