Position: Dental Hygienist (0.5 FTE)
Location: Eastlake

Job Summary

This position provides dental prophylaxis, including calculus removal and oral hygiene, to prisoners at the assigned Correctional Facility. The role may also include duties at dental clinics in other facilities and assist with clinic operation, including chairside assistance to dentists. The position is a test‑designated DART role with direct contact with prisoners for over 50% of work time and is located 100 % within the secure perimeter of a Correctional Facility.

Education
  • Possession of an associate's degree in dental hygiene.
Experience
  • Two years of experience as a dental hygienist.
  • Licensure by the Board of Dentistry as a registered dental hygienist.
Additional Requirements
  • The Department of Corrections may screen out applicants convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment until completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
  • Employment in the state classified service demands high loyalty and ethical standards. All employees must meet these standards and report any possible conflict of interest. (See Ethical Standards and Conduct.)
  • New hires and returning employees after a gap of more than two years will complete Non‑Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) of either 40 or 80 hours of initial in‑person training based on offender contact level and job classification, plus additional online training.
