Position Overview

Provide dental prophylaxis including calculus removal and related oral hygiene to prisoners at the assigned Correctional Facility and other dental clinics as assigned.

Assist in the operation of the dental clinic, including chair‑side assisting of dentists.

This is a test‑designated position (DART). The position involves direct contact with and responsibility over prisoners for more than 50% of the work time. The position is located 100% within the secure perimeter of a Correctional Facility.

Associate’s degree in dental hygiene.

Two years of experience as a dental hygienist.

Licensure as a registered dental hygienist by the Michigan Board of Dentistry.

• Applicants convicted of a felony may be screened out, in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017.
• Applicants convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
• All employees must meet high ethical standards, including a high degree of loyalty and integrity, and must report any possible conflict of interest.
• New hires and returning employees completing over two years of absence will complete Non‑Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) of either 40 or 80 hours based on offender contact level, plus additional online training.
