- Create 2D drawings and 3D models based on project concepts, customer requirements, and budget parameters.
- Collaborate with estimators, designers, customers, and internal teams to develop fabrication‑ready project designs.
- Conduct site visits as needed to verify dimensions, design constraints, and installation conditions.
- Interpret structural drawings, machine drawings, blueprints, and specifications to develop accurate fabrication details.
- Produce fabrication drawings, cut lists, and material details from Solid Works models, AutoCAD drawings, or other design files.
- Complete material take‑offs from existing drawings and design documentation.
- Prepare basic programs or files for burn table and plasma table fabrication tasks when required.
- Detail individual parts and assemblies from established project drawings.
- Maintain accurate and organized drawing files, revisions, and project records.
- Review fabricated parts and assemblies for conformance to drawings and design intent.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience with structural detailing, shop drawings, and fabricated steel components such as mezzanines, stairs, platforms, handrails, and support structures.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and proficiency with 3D modeling software; experience with SDS2, Solid Works, or similar programs preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Willingness to learn new software, technologies, equipment, and fabrication processes.
- Strong mathematical, spatial reasoning, and problem‑solving skills, including a solid understanding of geometry.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Associate degree in drafting, design, engineering technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
This role requires the ability to work at a computer for extended periods, review detailed drawings and specifications, and occasionally visit shop or field locations. The position may involve standing, walking, bending, and lifting light materials or documents as needed.
