Responsibilities- Essential Duties And
Responsibilities Include:- STUDENT CONTACT AND DISCIPLINE
- Facilitates the student handbook and maintains good order and discipline amongst the school’s student body and safeguarding their health and safety at all times.
- Assists in managing and responding to student crises, including emergencies, bullying incidents, and behavioral outbursts.
- Ability to maintain a safe and secure learning environment while managing student behavior issues.
- STUDENT CONTACT AND DISCIPLINE
- LEADERSHIP, COLLABORATION, AND COMMUNICATION
- Provides consultation and feedback communicating, consulting and co-operating with all other members of the school staff regarding student’s behavior, academic performance, and overall well-being, and parents/guardians to ensure the best interest of all students including fostering collaboration between school and home.
- Lead professional development for staff regarding student behavior management, conflict resolution, and fostering an inclusive environment.
- Knowledge of student information systems, including discipline, attendance, and academic records.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, serve on district and building MTSS/PBiS teams, and stay updated on best practices in student management, behavior, and educational leadership.
- Other duties as assigned by Administration.
- BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTIONS AND STUDENT SUPPORT
- Promote a positive school culture by developing and implementing programs Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavior in Schools (PBiS) that celebrate student achievement and establish and implement social skills, discipline and school culture initiatives.
- Develops progress monitoring data collection systems for students’ academic and behavioral success including student behavior referrals, attendance, and academic performance to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Implements evidence-based intervention strategies as it relates to student behavior for student success.
- Lead small group sessions focused on conflict resolution, attendance improvement, and social-emotional skills.
- Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Strong understanding of child development, adolescent psychology, and learning theories;
- Knowledge of productivity applications such as Microsoft Office, Google platforms, SWISS PBIS applications, MiMTSS platform, Student Information Systems, etc.
- Ability to explain and demonstrate appropriate academic and behavioral intervention techniques.
- Ability to set and meet goals evaluated through ongoing and annual Administrator feedback and achievement of objectives and agreed upon professional/personal goals.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in education or higher degree;
- Three to five years of successful teaching or related experience in a school setting;
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administration, students, and parents;
- Must have excellent organizational skills along with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
- Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check as defined by the State of Michigan;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
