Position SummaryThe District is seeking a qualified, student-centered educator to fill one Secondary Art teaching position beginning August 2026. This position may be structured as full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate’s certification, experience, and ability to meet district programming needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to instructional excellence, creativity, and fostering artistic growth for all students.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide engaging, standards-aligned visual arts instruction for students in grades 6–12 (assignment based on certification and district need)
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to Michigan Academic Standards for Visual Arts
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters creativity and artistic expression
- Incorporate a variety of media, techniques, and art history into instruction
- Use formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners
- Implement MTSS practices to support student achievement
- Maintain and organize art materials, equipment, and studio spaces in accordance with safety guidelines
- Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Participate in district professional development and continuous improvement efforts
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate visual arts endorsement (LX)
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in art instruction and student engagement
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Commitment to collaboration and continuous professional growth
- Dual certification highly preferred (e.g., additional endorsement in another secondary content area)
- Experience teaching middle and/or high school art
- Experience working within an MTSS or PBIS framework
- Experience organizing student art exhibitions or community art events
- Familiarity with curriculum alignment and standards-based grading
Salary and benefits per the Master Agreement (prorated if part-time).
