Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Teacher Assistant at Holbrook Elementary. The ideal candidate will support the 2nd-grade classroom by assisting the lead teacher in delivering engaging educational experiences to our students. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, promoting the academic, social, and emotional development of young learners.
Responsibilities
* Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities.
* Provide individualized support to students, helping them with assignments and reinforcing learning concepts.
* Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, and other school events to ensure a safe and positive environment.
* Help maintain an organized and engaging classroom setting, including preparing instructional materials and resources.
* Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to the lead teacher regarding individual student needs.
* Support the implementation of classroom management strategies to promote a positive learning atmosphere.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a supportive educational community.
* Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required.
* Assist with administrative tasks, including record-keeping and preparing reports as needed.
* Collaborate with other support staff and specialists to address the diverse needs of students.
Requirements
* High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher preferred.
* Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
* Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with young learners.
* Basic knowledge of child development and effective teaching practices.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from the lead teacher.
* Proficiency in using educational technology and tools to support learning.
* Background check and any required certifications (e.g., CPR, First Aid) prior to employment.
* Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
