Compensation: $110,000 - $123,183 (based on education and experience)
Position SummarySwartz Creek Community Schools is seeking a dynamic and strategic educational leader to serve as Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction & Continuous Improvement. This position provides district-wide leadership to advance academic achievement by designing, implementing, and monitoring a comprehensive continuous improvement system. The Executive Director leads key instructional systems, including curriculum, assessment, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), professional development, and grant-funded initiatives, while facilitating effective communication and alignment among the Board of Education, district leadership, administrators, instructional coaches, and staff.
Qualifications- Master’s degree required in educational leadership or related field
- Valid Michigan administrative certification
- Minimum of five years of experience in instructional leadership, school administration, or central office leadership.
- Demonstrated success in curriculum alignment, instructional improvement, coaching systems, and school improvement planning.
- Demonstrated expertise with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and Professional Learning Communities
- Experience with grant writing, state/federal compliance, and educational data systems preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to building positive relationships with students, families, and community partners.
- Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving to support informed decision-making.
- Experience in budget development and resource management.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving educational environment.
- Lead and oversee the district’s continuous improvement process (MICIP), including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting
- Facilitate district leadership, principal, and instructional leadership meetings
- Support and coach building administrators, including principal evaluation processes
- Serve as a key liaison to the Board of Education, including support for the Academic Achievement Committee
- Prepare and disseminate district communications, including stakeholder updates
- Support building administrators with teacher evaluation
- Oversee development and implementation of K–12 curriculum, standards, pacing guides, and instructional frameworks
- Lead the development and monitoring of common assessments and district-wide data practices
- Guide development of the district’s K–12 student profile and competency frameworks
- Ensure alignment with Michigan Department of Education (MDE) guidance and requirements
- Represent the district in regional curriculum collaborations (e.g., GISD Curriculum Committee)
- Facilitate the growth and development of quality collaboration
- Provide leadership for the district’s MTSS framework, including:
- Supervising and supporting MTSS coaches
- Facilitating MTSS instructional and district committee meetings
- Maintaining and updating the MTSS Handbook
- Promote data-informed decision-making to improve student outcomes
- Lead district-wide professional development planning and implementation
- Design and facilitate leadership development programs (e.g., New Dragons, Aspiring Leaders)
- Coordinate district retreats and ongoing administrator learning opportunities
- Manage PD systems, including request processes, approvals, and funding allocations
- Oversee SCECH (State Continuing Education Clock Hours) management and compliance
- Lead grant development and management, including Nex Sys submissions and monitoring
- Oversee state and federal program compliance (e.g., 31a funding)
- Coordinate state assessment administration and related processes
- Manage district data systems and reporting tools (e.g., Munetrix, Pivot)
