Position Overview

Pinckney Community Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a rigorous, engaging, and student-centered classroom environment, and demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence and the personal growth of each student. At Pinckney Community Schools, we prioritize social-emotional learning to support students' growth, resilience, and success. Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging and standards-aligned instruction in 130 to 150 students.
  • Develop lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, using data to inform instruction.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom culture that promotes student success and respect for all learners.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities to develop interdisciplinary and cross-curricular lessons.
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records in accordance with school policies and procedures.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, including professional development, school improvement planning, and extracurricular events.
Qualifications
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Social Studies. Dual certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in World and US History content areas.
  • Strong instructional, classroom management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in integrating educational technology and online learning tools into classroom instruction.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Commitment to fostering a culturally responsive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction for students with diverse learning needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience at the middle school level.
  • Experience in data-driven instruction and formative assessment practices.
