OFFICE OF UNDERGRAD EDUCATION - Undergraduate Advising Coordinator

Job Classification:
Salaried Full-time (75-100%)

Position summary

The Coordinator for Undergraduate Advising will work with the Program Director of First-Year Experience to assist in the implementation of institution-wide programming designed to support undergraduate students. Additional responsibilities include advising undeclared students.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Advising
    • Advise first-year students as needed and assist academic departments in the onboarding of new students.
    • Coordinate the assignment of faculty and staff advisors at the undergraduate level.
    • Assist in yearly advisor training
    • Coordinate summer registration campaign for undergraduate students
    • Work with college-level deans to ensure timely registration of all new students
    • Program coordinator for the Explore Andrews Program
  • Pre-College Services
    • Assist in the advising of Main campus high school students
    • Assist in the recruiting and planning of summer programs
    • Act as the program director for the Explore Andrews Summer Camp
    • Communicate with new students beginning at the point of admission.
  • Communications
    • Maintain office web pages and social media pages as needed.
    • Communicate with new students beginning at the point of admissions.
Supervisory responsibilities

Position supervises student workers.

Position supervises summer staff contracts for the yearly registration campaign.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience:

    Must have at least 2 years of experience in student services, counseling, or a related field. Preferred fields include enrollment management, academic advising, undergraduate programming, or pre-college programs.
  • Skills
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Strong customer service, including verbal and written communication skills
    • Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills
    • Mastery of Microsoft Office programs
    • Observe confidentiality
  • Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
