Position Summary:

Hastings Area School System is seeking a compassionate, student-focused Master's Level School Student Support Specialist to support the academic and social-emotional success of high school students at Hastings High School. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team member who can provide direct support to students and families while working closely with staff to address barriers to learning.

Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and small group counseling to support students' social, emotional, and behavioral development

• Conduct assessments and participate in the development of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to design and implement interventions

• Serve as a liaison between the school, home, and community agencies

• Support families in accessing community resources

• Maintain documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines

• Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Child Study Teams

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited program or ability to obtain

• Full or Limited Michigan School Social Worker License or eligibility to obtain

• Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practices, behavioral intervention strategies, and special education processes

• Experience working in a high school setting preferred

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
