Notice is hereby given that the following position(s) are available for current Harper Creek Staff members during the summer of 2026.
All positions, including quantity needed, are pending student enrollment.
PositionAutism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Special Education Para Educator(s) for Summer Programming
2 - Wattles Park Elementary (approximately)
SummaryThe ASD Special Education Para educator assists the classroom teacher in supporting students with disabilities in achieving academic, behavioral, and social goals and within the parameters given by the teacher and/or the student’s IEP. May be required to implement intensive behavior intervention plans, support communication systems, and maintain structured learning environments. Additional training may be required.
ResponsibilitiesProvide instructional support to individual students and small groups in general education and special education settings, including implementing accommodations and modifications outlined in IEPs. Assist in the implementation of behavior support plans and behavior interventions, while monitoring, documenting, and reporting student behavior and progress. Collect, maintain, and submit required student data and documentation in accordance with district procedures and applicable regulations.
Support classroom management, instructional activities, and preparation of materials as directed by the supervising teacher. Assist students with transitions and participation in all school environments and activities, including specials, lunch, recess, assemblies, and transportation. Support students with daily living skills, personal care needs, and physical or medical needs as required. Maintain confidentiality and have positive professional relationships.

Pay RateRespective hourly pay when a current Category 3 employee.
Otherwise, Category 3, Step 1 pay of $16.50/hour.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or G.E.D. Prefer someone who is CPI trained and has experience working with special education students. Must also have an excellent attendance record; the ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community, and perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of education policies.
