Job Summary

Wacousta Elementary is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a 2nd Grade Teacher. This full-time position offers the opportunity to inspire and educate young learners in a supportive and engaging environment. The ideal candidate will foster a love of learning, promote social and emotional development, and create a classroom atmosphere that encourages curiosity and collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, cooperation, and a sense of community among students.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of methods, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Utilize technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff to ensure the academic and social success of each student.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, implementing positive discipline strategies.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends.
  • Communicate regularly with parents through newsletters, meetings, and conferences to keep them informed of their child's progress and school activities.
  • Support and implement school-wide initiatives and programs that enhance the educational experience for all students.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification for elementary education.
  • Experience teaching in a classroom setting, preferably at the elementary level.
  • Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Proficient in using educational technology and digital tools for teaching and assessment.
  • Ability to adapt teaching techniques to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
