Instruct Fundamentals of Chemistry. This course consists of 3 hours of lecture and 2 hours of lab work per week. Instructors prepare their own labs and are expected to be accessible to students. This is a face‑to‑face position, with instructors expected to teach at either the Dowagiac or Niles campuses, during the day or in the evening, depending on college needs.
This position will begin in the Fall 2026.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Science Education, or related field with chemistry coursework or related experience
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Master’s Degree or higher in subject matter with previous teaching experience or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the duties of this position
- Community College teaching experience
- Teach courses consisting of 3 hours of lecture and 2 hours of lab work per week
- Prepare labs and maintain a safe lab environment
- Be accessible to students
- Grade assignments and respond to student inquiries
- Provide timely feedback to students’ questions and concerns
- Use Moodle (our LMS platform) regularly for posting assignments, attendance, and grades
- Proficient with computer technologies, including Microsoft Office and email
- Familiar with rules, regulations, administrative practices, guidelines and policies of the College
- Provide the department with student performance data required for regular outcomes assessment
- Work comfortably with a diverse student population that includes dual‑enrolled high‑school students, traditional college students, and nontraditional college students

- 2. The physical requirements of this position. Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly to move objects
- 3. The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision. The employee must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
