Dean of Students

Location: Lakeshore High School, Stevensville, MI 49127

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Valid Michigan administrative certification.
  • Minimum of three years of experience teaching at the high school level.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed practices, and positive behavior support strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiar with the use of data tracking through Power School, MTSS, and BTAM.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor school culture programs that support a positive school environment for both students and staff.
  • Maintain and update student 504 plans in collaboration with staff, families, and appropriate support personnel.
  • Conduct teacher observations and evaluations.
  • Engage in regular check-ins with at-risk students to identify barriers to success, create plans and next steps, monitor progress, and provide appropriate interventions and referrals.
  • Provide individualized support for students facing academic, social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and families to develop and implement tiered intervention strategies to address student needs based on data.
  • Serve as a liaison between students and school staff to ensure that student voices and concerns are heard and addressed.
  • Implement a comprehensive system of support and accountability for at-risk seniors.
  • Develop a comprehensive plan to track, monitor, and improve daily student attendance.
  • Work with the assistant principal to enforce school policy and support a safe and orderly school environment.
  • Serve as a member of the behavioral threat assessment team.
  • Attend and facilitate leadership team meetings as assigned.
  • Assist with building safety and security on a daily basis and help with staff training activities.
  • Monitor and supervise students during the school day in hallways, the cafeteria, and other common areas.
  • Assist at sporting events and school activities in supervisory and game management roles.
