Dean of Students
Location: Lakeshore High School, Stevensville, MI 49127
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Valid Michigan administrative certification.
- Minimum of three years of experience teaching at the high school level.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed practices, and positive behavior support strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiar with the use of data tracking through Power School, MTSS, and BTAM.
- Develop, implement, and monitor school culture programs that support a positive school environment for both students and staff.
- Maintain and update student 504 plans in collaboration with staff, families, and appropriate support personnel.
- Conduct teacher observations and evaluations.
- Engage in regular check-ins with at-risk students to identify barriers to success, create plans and next steps, monitor progress, and provide appropriate interventions and referrals.
- Provide individualized support for students facing academic, social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and families to develop and implement tiered intervention strategies to address student needs based on data.
- Serve as a liaison between students and school staff to ensure that student voices and concerns are heard and addressed.
- Implement a comprehensive system of support and accountability for at-risk seniors.
- Develop a comprehensive plan to track, monitor, and improve daily student attendance.
- Work with the assistant principal to enforce school policy and support a safe and orderly school environment.
- Serve as a member of the behavioral threat assessment team.
- Attend and facilitate leadership team meetings as assigned.
- Assist with building safety and security on a daily basis and help with staff training activities.
- Monitor and supervise students during the school day in hallways, the cafeteria, and other common areas.
- Assist at sporting events and school activities in supervisory and game management roles.
