Work-Based Learning Coordinator

The primary goal of the Work‑Based Learning Coordinator is to develop, coordinate, and support high‑quality work‑based learning opportunities for Career and Technical Education (CTE) students. The coordinator serves as a liaison among students, parents, employers, instructors, and school staff to ensure successful and compliant work‑based learning experiences that align with educational and career goals.

• Develop and maintain partnerships with employers and community organizations to expand work‑based learning opportunities for students.
• Coordinate student placements in internships, cooperative education, job shadowing, apprenticeships, and other career‑connected learning experiences.
• Conduct work‑site visits to ensure appropriate learning environments, student progress, and compliance with program requirements and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with CTE instructors to assist with classroom instruction related to workplace experiences.
• Serve as the primary liaison between students, parents, employers, and school staff regarding work‑based learning expectations and requirements.
• Assist students with employability skills, career readiness, resume development, interviewing, and job placement support.
• Prepare, process, and maintain all required documentation, training agreements, and placement records. Knowledge/Experience with Job Ready 360 desired but not necessary.
• Collect, analyze, and maintain student placement data for state and local reporting requirements.
• Prepare reports, presentations, informational materials, and promotional publications related to work‑based learning programs.
• Support compliance with state and federal regulations related to career and technical education and work‑based learning.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Van Buren Tech Administration.
• Valid driver’s license required.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
• Certification: Michigan Vocational Certification Required.
• Work Experience: Recent teaching experience and/or related business and industry experience preferred.
• Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships with business and industry partners.
  • Knowledge of labor laws, safety regulations, and youth employment requirements related to student work‑based learning.
  • Strong organizational and data management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and community partners.
  • Proficiency with technology and data management systems.

• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
