Overview
The Early Childhood Floater Associate Teacher - Long Term Substitute at Ashley Hall School.
Role duration: Long Term Substitute September 2 to December 19, 2025. School day: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with occasional faculty meetings from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Grades: Pre Primary, Primary, or Pre kindergarten (ages 2–6). Reports to: Early School Division Director.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with Lead teachers to support instruction and programming.
- Float between multiple classrooms to cover teacher absences or provide additional classroom support.
- Help deliver curriculum and instruction in literacy, mathematics, science, technology, and social studies under the Lead Teacher’s guidance.
- Assist with snack, lunch, nap time, carpool, and other in-classroom duties as assigned.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in required professional development.
- Build relationships with children and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Co-create opportunities for growth of the whole child and use positive guidance techniques.
- Co-teach problem-solving and conflict resolution; support differentiated learning.
- Contribute to a culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy that honors diverse perspectives.
- Maintain a clean and orderly classroom, common areas, and playground.
- Education:
Associate’s Degree in a related field required;
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. - Experience:
Experience in a school setting, preferably in an independent school. - Commitment to the teaching field and to differentiated learning.
- Openness to learning about Reggio Emilia; familiarity or experience in a Reggio Emilia program is highly desirable.
- Commitment to culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy.
- Approximately 50% standing/moving about the classroom and 50% bending and lifting.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for periods, sit on the floor, and be active for up to 6 hours/day.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred;
Associate’s degree required.
Academic-Hourly-Non-Exempt.
