To deliver a research-based, high-quality early education curriculum to prekindergarten students while meeting their individual learning needs through developmentally appropriate practices and a strong home‑school partnership. The GSRP Teacher is responsible for all aspects of planning, assessing, and instructing 4‑year‑olds, based on each child’s needs, and the GSRP grant’s requirements. The teacher is also responsible for maintaining program quality and documentation as outlined in the GSRP Implementation Manual, Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and LARA licensing guidelines.
Responsibilities- Implement a team‑teaching model, including time dedicated for the teaching team to plan, implement curriculum across all learning environments, assess children, and support parent involvement through home visits, conferences, and parent meetings.
- Dedicate time for staff to plan on a daily basis and participate equally in planning activities; conduct and participate in children’s activities; and ensure associate teachers do not play minor non‑teaching roles.
- Facilitate children’s development, including organization of the indoor and outdoor learning environments, the nature of adult‑child interactions, and strategies for transitions and grouping.
- Utilize the selected comprehensive curriculum to guide decisions about teaching practices.
- Utilize the Early Childhood Standards of Quality‑PK and the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) on high‑quality indicators of teaching practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Valid Michigan K‑5 Teaching Certificate and ZA/ZS endorsement, Birth‑K, or PK‑3 endorsement, or a bachelor’s degree in child development or early childhood with a specialization in preschool teaching.
- Coursework in child‑care administration or administrative credentials preferred.
- Previous successful early childhood team‑teaching experience preferred.
- Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills with team and a growth‑mindset focus.
- Ability to design and evaluate daily lesson plans driven by student achievement data.
- Formal training and experience with inclusion‑based early childhood programs preferred.
- Ability to maintain appropriate program and grant documentation.
- Must be CPR and First Aid trained upon hire.
- Strong ability to multitask and be detail‑oriented.
Competitive salary and benefits per GSRP Agreement; up to 192 days, grant‑funded position.
