High School Principal

The principal will lead the instructional program of a comprehensive high school, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, student support, staff supervision, data analysis, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- A valid Michigan teacher certificate with at least five (5) years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level.
- Michigan administrator certification with at least five (5) years of successful experience as a assistant principal or principal at the secondary level.
- A master's degree or higher, preferably in school administration or educational leadership.
- Strong knowledge base in high school curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.
Essential Functions:

- Administer the total operation of the school, its personnel and programs.
- Provides leadership for and ensure adherence to the approved curriculum, research-based instructional practices, and assessments.
- Leads professional learning and collaborative practices that strengthen curriculum alignment, assessment design, instructional practice, grading coherence, and evidence-based responses to student learning needs.
- Assumes responsibility for the administration of national, state, and local assessments as well as the analysis and reporting of results.
- Ensures the appropriate supports are in place for students with IEP's, 504 Plans, and English Learners.
- Creates and maintains a safe environment for all students and staff.
- Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline according to due process standards.
- Works collaboratively with the administrative team to meet and exceed high school and district goals.
- Evaluates and reviews the performance of staff assigned Caledonia High School.
- Supervises and actively participates in after school activities.
- Coordinates with the district Human Resources Department on the recruiting, screening, interviewing, and recommending of qualified candidates for high school staff positions.
- Develops, implements, and monitors the budget, which supports the high school program.
- Works cooperatively with other staff in the areas of pupil accounting, facility use, staff assignments, financial resource development, and coordination of schedules.
- Ensures compliance with all policies of the Board of Education and administrative guidelines and procedures by administrators, staff, and students.

Other Duties:
- Effectively communicate with parents and other building stakeholders.
- Participate and parent meetings, IEP's and Parent-Teacher Conferences.
- Attend staff, committee, grade-level and department meetings.
- Collaboratively work with colleagues and as part of a team.
- Promote the vision and mission of Caledonia Community Schools in a positive manner at all times.
- Duties as assigned by supervisor.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, and hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust/focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.
