Early Childhood Special Education Teacher
Portland Public Schools seeks an innovative and passionate Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to join our team and enhance the educational experience for our students. Our district is collaborative and committed to supporting staff growth, instructional innovation, and positive outcomes for every student.
The desired candidate would possess the following attributes- Exceptional communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Understanding of, or demonstrated experience with, PBIS and MTSS frameworks
- Ability to manage complex and stressful situations with sound judgment, professionalism, and composure
- High character, compassion for students and families, and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to effectively integrate technology into instruction and student learning
- Willingness to contribute to extracurricular programs and the broader school community
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a ZS endorsement
- Special Education endorsement in one or more of the following areas will also be considered:
- Cognitive Impairment (CI)
- Learning Disabilities (LD)
- Emotional Impairment (EI)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Ability to facilitate IEP meetings and complete required documentation in compliance with Michigan Special Education Rules and IDEA regulations
- Strong foundation in subject area content and Michigan Academic Standards
- Ability to utilize assessments and student data to inform and adjust instruction
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community partners
- Demonstrated ability to support and improve student achievement outcomes
- Commitment to contributing to a positive school culture with high expectations, collaboration, and strong community engagement
