Summary The Durand Area School District is seeking a dedicated and adaptable individual to serve as a Substitute Paraprofessional. This part‑time position requires a compassionate and supportive person who can assist teachers and students in various educational settings. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive learning environment and helping students achieve their academic and social goals.
Responsibilities- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
- Support students with special needs, including those with physical, emotional, or learning disabilities.
- Monitor student behavior and provide guidance to ensure a safe and respectful classroom environment.
- Help students with daily tasks, including but not limited to, personal care, mobility, and academic assignments.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and adapt instructional materials and strategies.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and adhere to school policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school administration.
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education (60 credit hours) or passing score from a ETS Paraprofessional Assessment.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to follow directions and adapt to various teaching styles and classroom environments.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support student learning and development.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Must pass background checks as required by state and district policies.
- Availability to work on short notice and flexibility in scheduling is essential.
