This position serves as the recognized resource and subject matter expert for all library and law library operations at the Kinross Correctional Facility. It oversees daily library functions, ensures secure and compliant access to library and legal resources for inmates, and supervises all prisoner Library Clerks and Legal Writers. The role manages the Legal Writer Program, the Electronic Law Library, and all coordination with outside service providers.
Additionally, it is responsible for procurement, reporting, recordkeeping, inventories, and other assigned duties.
- Possession of a master’s degree in library science.
- Experience:
Librarian 9 – no specific type or amount is required. - Experience:
Librarian 10 – one year of professional experience providing librarian services equivalent to a Librarian 9. - Experience:
Librarian P11 – two years of professional experience providing librarian services equivalent to a Librarian, including one year equivalent to a Librarian 10. - Experience:
Librarian 12 – three years of professional experience providing librarian services equivalent to a Librarian, including one year equivalent to a Librarian P11.
The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
This is a drug and alcohol test‑designated position. Applicants are required to complete a drug test within 24 hours of a conditional offer of employment.
