Overview
Boyne City Public Schools has several openings for an Assistant Teacher in the Early Learners preschool program for the 2026‑2027 school year. The Early Learners program serves 3‑ and 4‑year‑old children.
Qualifications- An Associate Degree (AA) in early childhood education or child development, along with a valid classroom CDA credential, is preferred but not required. If candidates do not have these qualifications, the district will assist the right candidate in obtaining the credentials over the course of a school year.
- Experience with children in a preschool setting is preferred, while a love and understanding of young children are required. Interested individuals should be energetic, positive, and able to communicate effectively with both young children and adults.

AssistsThe Early Learners Program is a preschool program serving 3‑ and 4‑year‑old children. The Assistant Teacher aids the Lead Teacher throughout the day.
Job GoalThe Early Learners Assistant Teacher agrees to perform assigned duties in a competent and professional manner, in accordance with the established policies and regulations of the Board of Education and the laws of the State.
Performance Responsibilities- Assist instructional personnel in developing and presenting learning materials and instructional exercises.
- Perform duties assigned by a classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
- Present subject matter to students under the teacher's direction and guidance.
- Instruct and assist children, individually or in small groups (at the teacher's request), to help them master assignments and reinforce concepts presented by the teacher.
- Assist the teacher in using developmentally appropriate positive methods of discipline that encourage self‑control, self‑direction, self‑esteem, and cooperation.
- Implement administrative policies and rules governing students.
- Supervise students in classrooms, halls, playgrounds, the gymnasium, or on field trips.
- Observe students' performance and record relevant data to assess progress.
- Instruct and monitor students on the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
- Use instructional materials and equipment effectively.
- Use technology as an instructional tool in the classroom.
- Escort children to and from various locations.
- Be aware of and assist with students' medical and/or physical needs as directed.
- Attend required activities and training to improve ability to perform job duties.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
