Salary: $17.22 to $21.31 per hour
Job DescriptionThis position is a Special Education Program Assistant scheduled from 9:35 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday (28.33 hours per week). The Special Education Paraprofessional will provide support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of students with special needs; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior; and providing information to appropriate school personnel.
Responsibilities- Assist in supervising, caring for, and instructing students with special needs.
- Help implement instructional plans for special education students.
- Monitor student behavior and implement behavior management strategies.
- Provide information to school personnel as needed.
- Maintain a cooperative and confidential relationship with students, staff, parents, and the general public.
- Work outside during all seasons as required.
- High school graduate.
- Earned 60 semester credit hours from an institution of higher education.
- Earned an associate’s degree or higher.
- Passing score on a state board‑approved formal assessment (Basic Skills MTTC, ETS Parapro Assessment, or Workkeys).
- Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain it.
- CPI training or willingness to obtain it.
- Evidence of skills with behavior management.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Patient, warm, and receptive attitude toward children.
- Ability to supervise students responsibly.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships while preserving confidentiality.
- Physical ability to work outdoors during all seasons.
