Qualifications:

• Para educator certification preferred
• Associates Degree or passing of current state test required
• CPR and First Aid Certification required
• Previous experience working with children with special needs required
• ASD experience strongly preferred
• Ability to demonstrate a positive relationship with parents, students, peers, building principal, teachers, and supervisor
• Must have ability to keep high level of confidentiality
• Must meet NCLB requirements
• Quality interpersonal skills
• Excellent attendance record required
• Excellent work record required

Duties:

• Works directly with children with special needs in development of educational learning, life skills, and etc.
• Individual must work directly with parents, students, teachers, and principals in a positive and friendly manner
• Candidate must have ability to perform gross motor activities such as running, climbing, and physical agility
• Requires heavy lifting
• May involve assistance in toileting of both male and female students
• May involve managing physically aggressive students
  
  Required to successfully complete classes and/or training (when necessary) to maintain position
• May require flexibility in schedule to meet needs of students
• Must be able to perform duties of the job
• Must successfully complete additional duties assigned by the teacher/administrator
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
