First Grade Teacher

• Position Type:
  Elementary School Teaching/ Primary - Grades 1, 2, 3
• Possess valid elementary teaching certification (ZO, ZG, ZC, ZE) or meet Michigan teaching permit requirements through enrollment in a teacher certification program leading to a Michigan elementary teaching certificate
• Knowledge of Michigan State Standards for First Grade
• Knowledge of evidence-based literacy and math instructional practices
• Prior successful teaching experience (preferred)

• Provide direct instruction to first grade students in all subject areas
• Create developmentally appropriate lesson plans and instructional materials
• Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior and student responsibility
• Possess strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
• Monitor and assess students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports in order to advance student achievement
• Differentiated instruction based on student data, developmental levels, and individual learning needs
• Maintain communication with students, parents, staff, and the community
• Participate in district professional development programs, as required
• Any other duties as assigned by the Principal, and/or designee
