ASD Teacher - High School

Summary

Grand Ledge High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as an ASD Teacher.
Please note that any valid special education endorsement is permissible for this position as long as the candidate without an ASD endorsement is willing to obtain their endorsement; the cost for obtaining this endorsement is covered by the district under LOA #15. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of ASD, utilize evidence-based practices, and collaborate effectively with staff, families, and the community to promote the academic and social growth of students. The position also includes an additional $3,800 stipend for Special Education Teachers and 4 contractual IEP days for completing paperwork.

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student with ASD.
• Create a structured and engaging classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth.
• Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to support diverse learning styles.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and families.
• Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and related service providers to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning.
• Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging communication, social skills, and independence.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and autism support.
• Engage families in the educational process, providing resources and support to help them navigate their child's education.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and communication with families and professionals.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding special education.

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification in Special Education with an endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or willing to obtain. Grand Ledge #15 provides reimbursement for obtaining ASD endorsement.
• Experience working with students with ASD in a high school setting is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation processes.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices and instructional strategies for students with ASD.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
