Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain
- Endorsement in Learning Disabled, Cognitive Impairments and/or Emotionally Impaired preferred
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under the direction of others

Performance Responsibilities:
Must be able to record, analyze and maintain student data in a timely mannerHave the ability to effectively instruct children diagnosed with a disability not only limited to a specific learning disability, cognitive impairment, emotionally impaired, other-health impaired, autism spectrum disorder, or hearing impairedDemonstrate an ability to provide small group and individual services to all levels of student abilityAbility to deliver specialized instruction in a differentiated capacity based on the needs of the students in the classroom- including academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needsMaintain necessary documentation of student performance through regular progress monitoringParticipate regularly on teams to analyze student- and building-level data, resolve problems, and select evidence-based interventions and supportsDevelop and implement comprehensive Individualized Education ProgramsRobust experience and ability to collaborate with other school staff to develop positive behavioral intervention plans for studentsAbility to develop effective, interpersonal and collaborative relationships with school aged children, staff, and parentsAbility to effectively co-teach with general education teachers & also provide direct instruction to individual/small groupsProvide direction and guidance to classroom, personal and/or LRE aidesComprehensive understanding of Michigan Common Core StandardsProficient in a variety of web-based programs and ability to effectively utilize technologyProficient in the implementation of PBIS and TCI techniques to promote positive classroom culture and climateDemonstrated expertise in managing intensive and complex student behaviors through the application of proactive, evidence-based strategies. Maintains a calm, regulated, and professional demeanor in high-stress situations, with a clear understanding that behavior serves as a form of communication and is often directly connected to a student's disability.Skilled in interpreting behavioral cues, de-escalating crisis situations, and implementing individualized supports that prioritize student dignity, safety, and access to learning.Committed to a trauma-informed and student-centered approach that emphasizes relationship-building, consistency, and the development of replacement skills.All other duties as assignedReports To:
