Necessary Qualifications- Michigan Teacher's Certificate grades 7-12;
Reading Specialist (BR) or Reading Consultant endorsement preferred. - Highly Qualified as defined by the Michigan Department of Education.
- Graduate of a recognized college or university.
- Provide Tier II and Tier III literacy interventions for students identified through district screening and assessment.
- Deliver explicit, systematic, evidence-based instruction in foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.
- Implement district-approved literacy programs and instructional practices aligned with the Science of Reading.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students and small groups.
- Develop intervention schedules that maximize instructional time while minimizing disruption to core classroom instruction.
- Administer and interpret literacy screeners, diagnostic assessments, progress-monitoring tools, and other relevant assessment data.
- Use assessment results to identify student needs, develop intervention plans, monitor growth, and adjust instruction.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and intervention services.
- Participate in MTSS, SAT, and data review meetings to evaluate student progress and recommend appropriate supports.
- Collaborate with special education, English Learner, and other support staff to coordinate services for students.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with core literacy instruction.
- Communicate regularly with teachers and parents/guardians regarding student progress and intervention goals.
- Support implementation of district literacy initiatives and school improvement goals.
- Participate in ongoing professional learning related to literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and demonstrate professionalism consistent with district policies and the Michigan Code of Educational Ethics.
- Remain current on state literacy requirements and evidence-based instructional practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administrator.
- Proficiency with education technology and student data management systems.
