Secondary Math/Science Teacher

Madison District Public Schools is seeking a full-time Secondary Math/Science Teacher for the  school year. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for science education and inspire students to explore, question, and understand the world around them. The successful candidate will be committed to fostering scientific inquiry, critical thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on learning experiences while building positive relationships with students and supporting diverse learning needs.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate Math endorsement (EX) and Science endorsement (DX, DI, DA, DC, DE, or other applicable secondary science endorsement)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Michigan Mathematics Standards, Michigan Science Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) practices
  • Knowledge of effective instructional practices and curriculum development
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents, and staff
  • Strong communication, technology, and organizational skills
  • Competency in student management and supervision
  • Ability to maintain a safe and effective laboratory learning environment

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and state standards.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, laboratory experiences, and inquiry-based learning opportunities to support student achievement.
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and families regarding academic progress.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, attendance, and communication.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment that promotes curiosity, collaboration, and scientific thinking.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and safety of laboratory equipment, materials, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student success and achievement.
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities and district initiatives to improve instructional practices.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
