CTE HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing Instructor
The CTE HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing Instructor drives student success by delivering highly engaging trade education to high school students across the St. Joseph County CTE Consortium. Following the Michigan Department of Education – Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE) framework, the instructor prepares students for SkillsUSA competitions, industry certifications, and future career placement. Key Objectives for the position include:
Deliver Engaging Hands-On Learning:
Provide engaging classroom instruction and hands-on lab experience focused on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. Build the future workforce: empower students with marketable job skills necessary to thrive in high-demand skilled trades.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Career Technical Education (or related field).
- Previous teaching experience or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the duties of this position in (CIP Code 47.0201 or 48,0508) or related CTE program; OR
- If none of the above qualifications are met, then 4,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience within the last 10 years in the HVAC, electrical, or plumbing field may suffice to become eligible for the Michigan Department of Education Annual Career Authorization (ACA).
- State licensure or industry certifications in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing, preferred.
- Mechanical Contractor License, preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification, preferred.
- Experience supervising employees, apprentices, or trainees, preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of industry standards, safety practices, and current technologies.
- A passion for mentoring and developing the next generation of skilled trades professionals
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certification(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration date of said document(s).
- Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do the job.
