Adjunct Professor
West Shore Community College is seeking a passionate and dedicated Adjunct Professor to teach at least one section (with potential to teach three sections) of English Composition I and Writing Essentials on campus (in-person) starting Fall 2026. The successful candidate will have a strong background in English composition, and demonstrate a commitment to fostering student learning and academic growth. Part-time faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester-by-semester basis as needed.
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the diverse needs of our student population.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to help students develop as college level writers.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills.
- Maintain academic standards and address all provided student learning objectives.
- Prepare syllabi and instructional materials in accordance with college guidelines.
- Monitor student progress and meet with students outside of class as needed.
- Use the learning management system to post course materials and grades.
Must possess a master's degree in English, Composition, or a related discipline, OR a master's degree in any field and at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in Composition. Demonstrated competency and experience in online college composition instruction. Experience teaching varied student populations (for example, high school as well as college students), a plus, but not required.
Competitive wage pay for this position is based on degree and course contact hours. EOE
